Sky Castle: the multi-sensory light installation in Sydney

Sky Castle

ENESS, a Melbourne-based studio, imagined Sky Castle: a multi-sensory interactive light installation featuring a cluster of inflatable arches in a colourful symphony.

Walk through the sculpture and your movement will power a melodic xylophone soundscape and stimulate colour changes in every arch. When others join you, the music and lights will intensify, creating a lush soundscape that will be different every night as people come and go.

Sky Castle and its myriad of colours represent something deeper lockdown, with the team behind it likening the project to a rainbow representing joy and hope following a storm.

It was launched in Fed Square in 2020 to celebrate Melbourne’s emergence from its 3rd lockdown. A supersized, mega Sky Castle appeared in Shenzhen at the end of 2020, followed by Hong Kong in May 2021. Sky Castle is now lighting up Sydney.
